Generations of DDR Memory

As a responsible computer user, you need to research a lot before you even consider upgrading your computer system.  This will ensure that you will have a combination that will meet the needs of your CPU, video card or motherboard.  However most of these who already researched failed because of RAM.  All they know is that RAM is just about the size and they don’t know about DDRs.

Double Date Rate or DDRs are memory technology evolution that is based on SDRAM.  The access of DDR is twice as fast as that of SDRAM.  This is because data transfer happens both on the edges of the clock.

The second generation of DDR memory is the DDR2 memory .  The DDR2 memory is different from the first version DDR1 because it could not be used on systems that don’t come with kind of technology.  It begins with 400MHZ in speed and that is the lowest available but the highest for DDR1, picking up where the first generation leaves off.  A minimum of 2GB DDR2 memory is needed for Windows Vista will just eat your first 1GIG.  The third generation is DDR3.  DDR3 begins with 800Mbps and goes up to 1600Mbps.  The main advantage of DDR3 memory technology is the high performance and less power consumption.
