There are a number of television shows, both classic and modern that touches on the topic of politics
1. BBC History of WWII
The BBC History of WWII is a collection of documentaries that focus on the Second World War. This show is broken up into ten parts for a full thirty hours of educational and intriguing entertainment.
2. NOVA – Origins
This show covers everything from the beginning of the universe Time’s Square. This political TV show consists of four, four-hour sections. According to the producers, the show too four years to create. Every hour of the show covers some area of cosmic evolution from the rise of life to the search for extraterrestrial life.
3. The West Wing
The West Wing was created by Aaron Sorkin. This show originally ran on the NBC network from September 1999 to May 2006. The show took place in the west wing of the White House, where the offices of the presidential staff as well as the Oval Office are located. The show focuses on the administration of fictional president Josiah Bartlet, who is portrayed by Marin Sheen.
4. Spin City
This sitcom was broadcast on the ABC network from September 1996 through April 2002. The show, which was the creation of Bill Lawrence and Gary David Goldberg, took place in the fictional offices of the New York City government. Michael J. Fox originally starred on the series as Deputy Mayor Mike Flaherty. After the onset of Parkinson’s disease forced Michael J. Fox to leave the show, Heather Locklear joined the cast as the mayor’s campaign manager Caitlin Moore. Low ratings proved to be the show’s demise after six seasons.
5. Jackie: Behind the Myth
This show by PBS Home Video digs deep into the private life of Ms. Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. Learn her story as it is told through film footage, photos, interviews, home videos and newsreels. Jackie was an incredibly private woman, but this show manages to trace her life from a young girl to her time in the White House as the First Lady and on to her career in publishing. The show also includes compelling footage of interviews with the people who knew her best, providing a glimpse into the private life of this remarkable public icon.
